What is a gematria calculator?

A gematria calculator is a tool for decoding the numerical values of Hebrew words. It is used in various forms of divination, such as Kabbalah, and has been used in Judaism for hundreds of years. The calculator assigns numerical values to each letter in the Hebrew alphabet. For example, the letter alef (א) is assigned a value of 1, while the letter bet (ב) is given a value of 2 and so on. By adding up the values of each letter within a word or phrase, a numerical interpretation can be obtained that symbolically relates to the meaning of a text.

This form of numerology is based on "gematria" (literally meaning "geometric writing"), which uses mathematical and phonetic codes to encode hidden information from sacred texts such as the Torah, Talmud and Zohar. For example, when summing up the values of all letters in a word, it can often reveal hidden messages or insights which can be used for divination purposes.

Using a gematria calculator is fairly simple; letters are typically inputted using Hebrew characters and then their corresponding numerical values are displayed on screen. Once all letters have been entered into the calculator it will produce an output which gives you an overall numerical value for your chosen word or phrase. This number can then be interpreted as having spiritual or symbolic significance related to its meaning.

For example, many people use gematria calculators to find significant numbers associated with various dates, like birthdays and anniversaries; if someone's name adds up to 1332 on their birthday then this could have special relevance to them spiritually, even if they aren't particularly religious themselves. The numbers obtained from the calculator can also give insight into certain words or phrases through their resulting resonant energies; an example of this might be ascribing gematria values to certain positive affirmations like "I am strong" or "I am loved."
